Obedience to God

"If you love me, then you will keep my commandments."

John 14:15

We obey God because we love God. "We love God because He first loved us." ~1 John 4:19.

We long to be closer to Him, be in His presence, because, God, "...In your presence, there is fullness of JOY; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." ~Psalm 16:11 We seek God with all our hearts, and long to be closer to Him, toknow Him, trust Him and live by His commands.

As Jesus was teaching on prayer, to the disciples, and the crowds of followers, in Luke 11:28, He says, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it". The true Blessing comes from not just "hearing" the Word of God, but from "doing" the Word of God.  ^"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."~James 1:22 And Romans 5:8 shows us that in Christ's obedience to God, Jesus saved us, once and for all, and made us righteous, while we were still sinners. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." ~Romans 5:8 "For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous." ~Romans 5:19

When you walk in obedience to God, you are walking in LOVE, "And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love." ~2 John 1:6 And we know "..the greatest of these is LOVE." ~1 Corinthians 13:13
