Yielding to the Holy Spirit, as shown in Scripture, involves surrendering your will and desires to God's leading through the Holy Spirit. The Bible says, God will only lead and guide you to do things that are pure, peace loving and gentle at all times, producing the fruit of "good deeds". James 3:17 says "But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere."
It's an ongoing process of aligning your life with the Spirit's prompting and influence, resulting in spiritual growth and transformation. One of Jesus's examples can be found in Luke 4:1, where it describes Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, being led by the Spirit into the wilderness after his baptism. This illustrates Jesus's complete submission to God's will. Various people in the Bible, like the disciples receiving the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), are portrayed as yielding to the Spirit's power and guidance.
Here are Six ways you can learn How to yield to the Holy Spirit:
1- Be aware of God's presence: Cultivate a continual awareness of God's presence and the Holy Spirit's guidance. Example: When something is brought to your remembrance, say thank you Holy Spirit for bringing all things to my remembrance.
2- Immerse yourself in Scripture: Spend time reading and meditating on God's word, which is a primary way the Holy Spirit communicates with believers. Example: Take one scripture a day, write it on a small piece of paper, put it in your pocket or purse, and all throughout that day, read this scripture.
3- Pray Continually: Prayer is a vital means of communicating with God and seeking His guidance. Example: This can be a small prayer, communicating with God, as you go about everyday tasks, or a prayer that you have in your quiet, alone time with God.
4- Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading: Pay attention to the gentle nudges, promptings, and impressions that the Holy Spirit may give you. Example: When you hear that still small voice giving you an answer, or an instruction or guidance, this is the Holy Spirit.
5- Surrender your will: Be willing to set aside your own desires and plans in favor of God's will. Example: Say to God, "Not my will Lord, but your will be done God in my life."
And the last step,
6- Walk in step with the Spirit: Make concious choices to follow the Spirit's direction in your daily life. Example: When you hear His still small voice, yield to it, listen and obey the Holy Spirit, and thank the Holy Spirit.
Thank you Holy Spirit, I need you Holy Spirit.
