Self Care, especially in the winter months is essential! The most important scripture to start on self care is, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Your body is a temple, the dwelling place of Christ, the Most High God, and the Holy Spirit. We are called to respect this divine indwelling, and not to subject ourselves to anything unholy. You do not want to grieve the Holy Spirit. As Paul says in this scripture, we are not our own, we are bought with a high price. Jesus went to Calvary, died on the cross, and rose again three days later, so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) The second scripture on self care in the Bible is, Exodus 34:21 “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest." In this scripture, God commands Rest. We are all so busy, busy. We are sometimes saying, Calgon, take me away! There is a scripture for that, In Mark 6:31, it says "Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Isn't that a beautiful scripture? You can just feel God's love in it. Resting is the ultimate self-care that will re-store and refresh your mind, body and soul, and God is lovingly encouraging us to do it. The third scripture, (among many more!) is, Proverbs 4:23 "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." This scripture is telling you, above all else, we must guard ourselves. Our heart matters to God, that's why we must guard, nourish and care for it. I hope these scriptures have encouraged you like they have me! God Bless you.
